ペタンクとは、地面に置かれた投球サークル（直径50cm）から、6～10ｍの間にビュットと呼ばれる目標球を投げ、金属製のボール（ブール）を投げ合い、相手チームより目標球に近づけることで得点を競い合う競技です。ただ目標球に近づけるだけでなく、相手チームのボールを弾き飛ばしたり、味方チームのボールに当てて、目標球に近づけたりと、様々な戦略があります。体力を必要としないため小学生から高齢者までコミュニケーションをとりながら気軽に楽しめるスポーツです。

Pétanque is a sport in which two teams take turns throwing metal balls, called ‘boules’, towards a target ball, called a ‘but,’ from the throwing circle(diameter:50 cm). The objective is to score points by having ‘boules’ closer to the ‘but’ than the opponent’s after all the six ‘boules’ have been thrown. The team get points for each boules closer than the opponents’. This is not the only way to win; similar to curling, there are other strategies such as hitting the opponent’s ‘boules’ to force them away or hitting your own ‘boules’ to move them closer to the ‘but’. This sport does not require a lot of physical strength or physical fitness. This makes it easy for everyone from little kids to seniors to enjoy playing while communicating with each other.
